40th Anniversary Celebrations

Geneva (27 October 2015): The 40th Anniversary of the Convention was celebrated at Goldsmiths' Hall in London (United Kingdom) on 9 September 2015 in the form of a gala event, followed by the 77th meeting of the Standing Committee (SC) and the 17th meeting of the International Association of Assay Offices (IAAO).

More than 100 participants attended the gala event at the Goldsmiths' Hall, which is considered as the birthplace of the Convention. Guests were greeted by the Goldsmiths Company's pike men and introduced formally to the Prime Warden, Mr Timothy Schroder.  Guests were then convened to dinner, during which an official message from His Royal Highness, the Prince of Wales, was read out.  The dinner ended with a concert by the Ogmore Valley Choir, an outstanding Welsh male choir.  All guests were provided with a commemorative brochure on the Convention's 40th Anniversary, which includes interesting data and facts on hallmarking in the 19 Contracting States.

On behalf of the SC, the Chairman thanked the Prime Warden, Goldsmiths' Hall and the Organising Committee, chaired by Dr Robert Organ (Assay Office London), for having organised and hosted the Convention's 40th Anniversary.
