Statement on Ukraine

The Convention on the Control and Marking of Articles of Precious Metals is an international treaty between currently 21 Contracting States. 3 States are in the process of acceding: Italy, Sri Lanka and Ukraine. Peaceful co-operation between States is at the very heart of the Convention. Violence in any form is a negation of the Convention itself and of its spirit of co-operation.

The Members of the Standing Committee wish to express their support, sympathy and solidarity with Ukraine. They express the hope that peace will return rapidly to Europe so that Ukraine can resume its accession process to the Convention. In the meantime, Members will take all appropriate measure to keep Ukraine’s membership application alive.
